Windows 10 is a personal computer operating system released by Microsoft as part of the Windows NT family of operating systems
To encourage its adoption, Microsoft announced that during its first year of availability, Windows 10 would be made available free of charge to users of genuine copies of eligible editions of Windows 7 or Windows 8.1.
Windows 10 introduces what Microsoft described as a "universal" application architecture; expanding on Metro-style apps, these apps can be designed to run across multiple Microsoft product families with nearly identical code—including PCs, tablets, smartphones, embedded systems, Xbox One, Surface Hub and HoloLens.
Windows 10's user interface was revised to handle transitions between a mouse-oriented interface and a touchscreen-optimized interface based on available input devices—particularly on laplets; both interfaces include an updated Start menu that comprises a design similar to Windows 7 with 8's tiles.
Windows 10 also introduces Task View, a virtual desktop system, the Microsoft Edge web browser and other new or updated applications.

7-Zip works in Windows 10 / 8 / 7 / Vista / XP / 2012 / 2008 / 2003 / 2000 / NT. There is a port of the command line version to Linux/Unix and macOS.
Calibre is a free and open source e-book library management application made by users, for users. Many languages, designed around the concept of the logical book, i.e., a single entry in your library that may correspond to actual e-book files in several formats.
Calibre can sort the books in your library by title, author, date added, date published, size, rating, or series, along with extra metadata such as tags and personal comments. You can easily search your book collection for a particular book, based on any of this information. Calibre can also go onto the internet to find online books based on existing title/author or ISBN information.

Process Explorer shows you information about which handles and DLLs processes have opened or loaded. The display consists of two sub-windows. The top always shows a list of the currently active processes, including the names of their owning accounts, whereas the information displayed in the bottom window depends on the mode that it is in. The unique capabilities make it useful for tracking down DLL-version problems or handle leaks, and provide insight into the way Windows and applications work.
A free and open source web browser descended from the Mozilla Application Suite. Firefox is highly extensible, with thousands of third-party add-ons available.
Firefox version 60+ (Quantum) is presently faster than Google Chrome and use less memory than Chrome. Compare to previous versions of Firefox, the Quantum version is twice as fast, promote parallelism, and has more intuitive user interface.
Hey is a new hosted email service launched by the makers of Basecamp , which aims to organize your email inbox. Since they don’t sell ads, or invade your privacy, they charge $99/year for HEY
HEY replaces workarounds, messy hacks, and daily frustrations, with built-in workflows, effortless organization, and clever features that levels-up email in meaningful ways.
Naturally grouped Inboxes are typically an intertwined mess of new and old messages haphazardly mixed together. Yuck. With HEY, new messages are always grouped together at the top, and previously seen emails are always at the bottom. Neat and orderly by default.
Opera is an innovative browser that focus on implementing new technologies without dropping simplicity and ease of use, speed, and security; supporting and contributing to open web standards.
It offers a highly customizable start page (Speed Dial) where you can set your top sites and bookmarks and get news content recommendations. On the sidebar you have access to “workspaces” to easily switch between groups of tabs, popular services like WhatsApp, Facebook and Telegram, etc. It contains many built-in features such as: ad-blocker, sync, unit converter, battery saver, VPN, and so on, and supports extensions from Opera Add-ons and Chrome Web Store
The Android version maintains its identity including many of the features plus a data saver, download manager, text adjustments like text wrapping, a night mode and also a Crypto Wallet.
Opera Touch Opera Touch is available for Android.
For Blackberry and other kinds of devices, Opera Mini is the slimmed down version available, where pages are compressed up to 90% by Opera's servers before being sent to your phone. Thunderbird is a free, open source, cross-platform e-mail, news and instant messaging client. The project strategy is modeled after Mozilla Firefox.
It supports POP (storing mail locally on your hard drive so that it can be accessed without an internet connection), and IMAP. It features excellent mail filter capabilities and management.
Thunderbird has strong support for using multiple accounts and identities, including automated signature features.
Chat functionality is built in, so you can enjoy real-time conversation with your contacts, right from your favorite messaging application, with multiple supported networks. Thunderbird makes it easy to search through both past conversations and received emails.
Thunderbird can also function as an RSS/Atom feed reader, and has a large selection of add-ons that extend it with calendar support, PGP support, integration with online services and much more.

LastPass is a secure, browser-based password manager that supports Firefox, Internet Explorer, Chrome, and Safari.

"Everything" is an administrative tool that locates files and folders by filename instantly for Windows. Unlike Windows search "Everything" initially displays every file and folder on local or removable NTFS volumes on your computer (hence the name "Everything"), and on mapped network drives with ETP server and an everything installation too. You type in a search filter to limit what files and folders are displayed. 19 languages supported.
How can "Everything" index a mapped network drive? To search a networked computer you will need to run Everything on both computers. One computer will need to Start an ETP server. The other computer will need to connect to that ETP server.
To start an ETP server:
- In Everything, On the Tools menu, click Start ETP server.
To connect to an ETP server:
- In Everything, On the Tools menu, click Connect to ETP Server....
- Type in the ETP server name.
- Type in the ETP server port.
- Type in the ETP server user.
- Type in the ETP server password.
- Click OK.
Deluge is a full-featured BitTorrent client for Linux, Unix and Windows. It is written in python, uses libtorrent (rasterbar) at its core and GTK for the main user interface along with web and console interfaces for advanced client/server facility.
Deluge features a rich plugin collection; in fact, most of Deluge's functionality is available in the form of plugins.
Deluge was created with the intention of being lightweight and unobtrusive. It is our belief that downloading shouldn't be the primary task on your computer and therefore shouldn't monopolize system resources.

Paint.NET is a free image and photo editing software. The app is completely free through a direct download on the website, though there is a small fee involved for access to the app through Windows Store.
Virtual CloneDrive works and behaves just like a physical CD/DVD drive, however it exists only virtually. Image files of various formats (.iso, .bin, etc) can be mounted onto a virtual drive from your hard-disk or from a network drive and used in the same manner as inserting them into a normal CD/DVD drive.
Notepad++ is a free source code editor and Notepad replacement that supports several languages.
Based on the powerful editing component Scintilla, Notepad++ is written in C++ and uses pure Win32 API and STL which ensures a higher execution speed and smaller program size. Evernote is a cross-platform, freemium app designed for note taking, organizing, and archiving.
The app allows users to create a "note" which can be a piece of formatted text, a full webpage or webpage excerpt, a photograph, a voice memo, or a handwritten "ink" note.
Notes can also have file attachments. Notebooks can be added to a stack while notes can be sorted into a notebook, tagged, annotated, edited, given comments, searched, and exported as part of a notebook.

CPU-Z is a freeware system profiler (system monitor) application for Microsoft Windows (for all versions from 95 on) that detects the central processing unit, RAM, motherboard chipset, and other hardware features of a modern personal computer, and presents the information in one window. CPU-Z is more in-depth in some areas than the features that Windows XP provides to identify various hardware components, and is thus needed to identify certain components without opening the case, especially the core revision and RAM clock rate.
