I use Notepad++, and have for years. I love it! Couldn't ask for a better text editor with some advanced features beyond the standard Notepad.
Bulky, confused plugin management, lack of plugin support on x64
I'm using 64-bit version of Notepad++ and I'm using plugins. What am I doing wrong?

I like Notepad++ because political discourse is why i got into programming. And it's great to see the peoples party feels the same way.
The developer uses his software release page to spew divisive political rhetoric as if it was his personal blog page.
Perfect balance of powerful and lightweight. Launches fast enough I don't bother using Notepad anymore (even for simple jotting down notes). Handles large files, syntax highlighting, multifile / regex / multiline search and replace, sorting lines, filtering duplicates, and all kinds of advanced things you might want to do on a text file or group of them.
This app has several significant issues that have been around for years and still haven't been fixed.:
unoptimized extensions, some of which have to be abandoned due to slowdowns (for example, spell checking);
political propaganda spam. Just keep this in mind as the price of using this seemingly free and seemingly universal tool;
the inability to use cloud synchronization of settings without the risk of losing all user settings.
