Notepad++ is a free source code editor and Notepad replacement that supports several languages.
Based on the powerful editing component Scintilla, Notepad++ is written in C++ and uses pure Win32 API and STL which ensures a higher execution speed and smaller program size. By optimizing as many routines as possible without losing user friendliness, Notepad++ is trying to reduce the world carbon dioxide emissions. When using less CPU power, the PC can throttle down and reduce power consumption, resulting in a greener environment.

I used to like Notepad++, but after closing the app, it remained in memory. And after a while I noticed I had several instances of Notepad++ hogging the computer's memory.
I installed other versions, tried on other computers, and the same problem happened. At the time it was apparently a known issue. But I switched to PSPad, and am very happy with it.
Bulky, confused plugin management, lack of plugin support on x64
This is Notepad++ not Plugin++ idiot

I used to love this editor until the developer decided to push his personal/political stance through one of his updates. I won't go into details, but I found it unacceptable. Believe what you want, but don't shove it down my throat!
I use Notepad++, and have for years. I love it! Couldn't ask for a better text editor with some advanced features beyond the standard Notepad.
On the download page there are political opinions.
