I have been in business repairing computers for over 20 years and have been using Driver Easy for at least 10 of those. Someone complained that they slow your download speed unless you pay, well of course, they work hard and deserve to get paid, the people complaining about this don't work for free, why would you expect someone else to. Now it's pay only, not sure how that will go over, but the main thing is, the program works well and is reliable. Driver Easy is the only driver program I've...

DriverEasy detected more drivers than SlimDrivers. So I prefer DriverEasy about SlimDrivers. After Slimdrivers had updated all drivers on Vista Business 64bit und reported all drivers to be actual and OK, there remained an "Other USB-device" not working and yellow-marked:
After "optimizing" all drivers with SlimDrivers DriverEasy reported 2 missing and 23 outdated drivers.
My Hauppauge WinTV USB Card "Hauppauge WinTV HVR-900H 64bit (66xxx)" did not work with the drivers from SlimDrivers, because the drivers for this USB 3.0-Card could not be installed:
Only with the DriverEasy-Updates I could use the "Hauppauge WinTV HVR-900H 64bit (66xxx)" which has the drivers Renesas Electronics USB 3.0 Card as a precondition.
Otherwise DriverEasy wanted to install the V7-drivers for "Hauppauge WinTV HVR-900H 64bit (66xxx)"-USB-device, without asking. I wanted to keep the V6-version, because VTPlus does not work with WinTV V7. In this point SlimDrivers had the better behaviour.
There is no actual list of drivers or sites from which this program downloads. This makes it very difficult to trust. Then there is the speed, the very slow speed that the FREE users have to deal with. But no worries, you are spammed to upgrade to the pro version at every turn, even opens an unwanted web page after installation (of the program, not the driver, because it does not install the drivers for you). And the most annoying thing is, in the FREE version, you have to manually install every driver, yes, only the paid version does in automatically. It may have potential, for it's simplicity and list of drivers (maybe?), but all the rest make it hard to trust. To bad it comes recommended from DDU.
I have been in business repairing computers for over 20 years and have been using the free version of driver easy for at least 10 of those years. It works great, it's the best driver program I ever found. They work to make the program, then offer you a free version, and you complain? What is wrong with you? Do you get a paycheck for your work? I'm sure you don't go to work for free. When I work, I want to get paid, you need to rethink things.

Someone complained that they slow your download speed unless you pay, well of course, they work hard and deserve to get paid, the people complaining about this don't work for free, why would you expect someone else to. Now it's pay only, not sure how that will go over, but the main thing is, the program works well and is reliable. Driver Easy is the only driver program I've found that has no spyware, no adware and no malware, it's clean, safe and will even find the hardest to find drivers.
Literally useless if you don't buy the premium, which they will throw in your face at every opportunity, including every time you click 'install'. You have a max download speed of 60kbps and you can't even click "update all" like the description says without paying; you have to wait however long your dial-up speed (this isn't a joke) download takes, then manually click the next one and do it again. I made an account on this site for the sole purpose of giving them a 1 star review. Before this site I would've loved to give them 0/5 if possible but apparently they're the best for detection
So let me get this straight, you're upset because they want do get paid for working... Do you get paid when you go to work? I expect to get paid for my work, and they deserve to get paid for their work. If you don't want to pay, they gave you a way to do it for free, they did their work for free and you complain, you need to rethink things.

Very annoying to go through, keeps telling me to get the paid version everywhere I go. Decided to just uninstall it instead
GARBAGE!!!
This is nothing but a tease to get you to pay for what you can get for free elsewhere!
The "Free" version is deliberately crippled and useless!
Save yourself the trouble!
Useless? I run a computer repair business and have used Driver Easy for over 10 years, the free version worked fine, yea, slow, they want you to pay for the full version, but why do you expect them to do? Do you go to work for free? You get paid when you work, they deserve the same.

Of all the various driver update utilities, DriverEasy seems to be the best. Unfortunately the bar is pretty low for this type of program, and DriverEasy isn't perfect.
DriverEasy seems to have the best driver detection with lowest false positives (though there are a few), it doesn't run in the background for no reason, and lets you see a comparison of your driver to the new driver to verify it is correct.
The free version of DriverEasy provides really, really, really slow downloads. Thankfully, the larger drivers tend to be easily available online (Intel, Realtek, etc). It is generally more obscure drivers like storage controller drivers that you can download through DriverEasy because they're only a few megabytes.
DriverEasy free is more of a driver detection tool than an automatic updater. But it's fairly good at what it does.
