Generally - photoshop is a very good tool, with a lot of staff inside. It's a quite good alternative if a pricing is not a question.

Photoshop is the default tool for design, but having a high learning curve and being a paid tool makes it difficult for those of us who only use it for small things.

Missing loads of features gimp has. Can’t make layers. Selection tools are basically nonexistent. Disappointing.

At least with GIMP I can readily save my work anytime and be assured I can access it post-2020; with Sumo Paint, though I can blend better, it feels a little like I have to rush because, flash app (though there's a new plug-in-free version online now).
