More specifically, is an implementation of, which is free and open-source. Anybody can implement on their own server; exists for those that just want a microblogging account. Anyway, other glories of are that you can log in with an OpenID account, you can easily set it up to forward your statuses to Twitter and Facebook and you can joing common-interest groups & broadcast to them using the exclamation mark tag.
