It's incredibly feature rich especially when compared to Mastodon: emoji reactions, markdown support, bubbles (tabs that show all posts from selected instances, as defined by server admins), channels (member run groups for specific topics)
The backend also scales better than mastodon.

It's very feature rich and I love it, Misskey also has special markdown support called MFM and it has so many options

Federated self-hosted social network specifically created to cater Japanese internet culture.
The UI/UX might contrast to Western-developed fediverse software like Mastodon or Pixelfed, but it doesn't mean a bad thing.
Go use this if you want a modern social media, but with cool post customization features like 2000's social media.
It is lightweight yet feature-packed.
