FreeScout currently is the best open source ticketing solution out there! I can especially recommend the modules you can buy - they are a good way to support the devs and they blow other solutions absolutely out of the water! I'm overwhelmed with FreeScout.

From a developer standpoint, it's been a dream to work with FreeScout. We managed to get rid of our Salesforce account this summer, transitioning our support team to use FreeScout with some custom extensions to tie into our backend systems. Really nice developer experience and our team using it has really enjoyed it too. Not bloated, not overloaded with features, but very well thought out.
It's extremely good, i love it. 5 stars for the design. 5 stars for the user experience. Everyone loves it. Best in class.
Everything is an extra module that you need to pay extra. Thinking any feature, like being able to see a list of customers? That's $10, thanks! The list grows quickly, I needed 40 extra paid modules for fit my usage. But very good quality, so i paid. 4 stars for this because anyway the quality is very high.
But the developer is super rude, after i spent $400 in modules he just blocked me after asking a single (!!!) question "don't waste my time". I know that maybe answering the same question many times is tiring, but now I have no other way than asking a chargeback to my bank.

Great tool, great code, great style. We were looking for a free and self-hosted email management tool for a long time and found FreeScout only now. It is a pleasure to work with the unobtrusive yet powerful user interface. This seems to be unique in a market of bloated, old-fashioned or overdone, social media focused and overpriced services, hosted on someone else's systems. Prices for the modules are ridiculous compared to the great added value. Could easily be a multiple while still being worth the money.

Incredible self-hosted alternative to Helpscout and Zendesk type platforms. Premium extensions are one-off purchases, not subscriptions. Never had it break down on me, always reliable and functional updates. An absolute winner and keeper!
Super nice UI compared to other clumsy ticketing systems
