RememberTheMilk and Todoist have very similar feature sets. I'm a diehard RememberTheMilk fan myself, though. I can type a new task and all its metadata very fast with only the keyboard. Between not needing the mouse and RememberTheMilk's fast interface, I spend very little time messing with my software and more time getting work done.

Not quite as feature-rich or intuitive as Todoist, but it is open-source, self-hostable, and an overall excellent application.

    Google Tasks vs Todoist Comments

Google Tasks has the very basic stuff: a due date, the task name, task description, and has sub tasks and parent tasks. Todoist has much more.

It currently lacks almost all the features Todoist offers for free. Google Tasks is also tied up to Gmail, and it gives you very little space to organize things and the UI is not even close to how good Todoist is.

TodoIst has a lot of really important tools, but is not free. Google tasks is really basic but you at least can add recurrent tasks with times, and you can also see everything organized on your Google Calendar.
