What is Will Be Done?

Will Be Done is a free and open-source, local-first task manager built around visual weekly planning. Each day appears as a column, making it easy to schedule tasks, review the week, and rebalance work with drag and drop(or with vim keybinds!).

The app stores a full database on your device, so tasks remain available offline and changes happen without waiting for a server. When a connection is available, Will Be Done synchronizes changes across browser tabs and devices. Its on-demand storage model is designed to start quickly even after years of saved tasks.

Tasks can be organized into projects, ordered sections, daily lists, and a persistent stash. Stash acts as a focus list for tasks you want to keep visible without assigning them to a specific date. Tasks support descriptions, checklists, recurring schedules, manual ordering, and completion tracking.

The interface supports both drag-and-drop and keyboard-first workflows. Vim-style shortcuts cover navigation, task creation, editing, scheduling, completion, project moves, and other common actions. Desktop builds also provide a global Quick Add window.

You can use Will Be Done through the hosted web app, install it as a progressive web app, or download the desktop application for Windows, macOS, and Linux. A self-hosted server is available as a Docker image. The default self-hosted setup uses SQLite and does not require Redis, an external database service, or object storage.

Will Be Done also provides an HTTP API for tasks, projects, schedules, and other data. Existing tasks can be imported from Todoist with an API token or from a TickTick CSV export.
