Spotify Alternatives for Android

Deezer roughly pays the artists 40% more money per stream than Spotify ($0.0064 instead of $0.00437, according to dittomusic.com). It doesn't seem like much, but to me it's an fairly important point, which led me to use Deezer over Spotify.

With Deezer you can only listen to 30 seconds of a song unless you pay.

It is far more concerned with individual and small musicians and has way less of a sense of corporate obsession and political interference with it. I do think that Spotify, thanks to its influence, can basically draw anything to its collection and make or break a major artist, but for smaller artists, Soundcloud offers hope that there is a route into the industry.

SoundCloud generally allows small artists to share their music, where as Spotify rarely has small time artists and instead focuses on artists which have full albums or have been signed.

YouTube music is good but you can't listen to it if you are on some other app or your phone is off, unless you pay.

It is included in the YouTube premium package, and the interface is quite good, and the quality is a bit better than spotify.

The UI had quite a few changes and today it seems to me that it is the most appropriate. Unlike Spotify, where there is a dropdown with a lot of functions listed, here the three most used ones are big buttons, and then the list of options. I found it more convenient.

This makes it a uniques and valuable service, particularly if you're an audiophile who genuinely appreciates the difference. However, TIDAL has: no playlist sharing and no Linux client.

Lossless audio and higher artist payouts, while still being very similar to spotify in the way it's used.
