Spotify and other streaming services allows users to stream the music, but there's no mechanism to financially support the artist and the payment for the streams is laughable. Indie artists (who Bandcamp directly supports) cannot advance their careers are create their art from streaming payments alone and therefore rely on sites like Bandcamp to give them opportunities to sell their art rather than give it away.

The focus of Soundcloud is really to make people discover new artists through their social platform, whereas Bandcamp is more used as a storefront - a feature absent from Soundcloud afaik. Bandcamp does nonetheless features "people also bought" recommandations, the ability to follow an artist, a label's page or a user, and curated blog posts exploring indie artists.
