Synergy Alternatives for Mac
Barrier is a cross-platform software utility for sharing your mouse and keyboard between multiple computers on your desk. It was forked from Synergy version 1.9's codebase.
- - Barrier is the most popular Windows, Mac & Linux alternative to Synergy.
- - Barrier is the most popular Open Source & free alternative to Synergy.
The Barrier project has been unmaintained for a year and a half now, and efforts to continue developing the project have continued in this repo: https://github.com/input-leap/input-leapMore details can be found here: https://github.com/input-leap/input-leap/issues/1414
Comments about Barrier as a Alternative to Synergy
This is the only cross-platform solution I've found so far, and it's working a heck of a lot better than Synergy!7
Quick and easy setup, cross platform, minimal reading required to use.12
No longer maintained as of Feb 2022, development efforts have continued under the "InputLeap" project on GitHub0
Last update from November 2021. Main developers moved to Input Leap. For now both Input Leap and Barrier are more or less at the same state, but going forward Input Leap might be the better choice.2
open source, actively updated-1
Move the mouse to the monitor of the computer you wish to control and the pointer magically jumps to that computer. Any mouse and keyboard input is transmitted to the corresponding computer.
Comments about ShareMouse as a Alternative to Synergy
its is super easy to set up and its free.0
More features, easier setup, more reliable functionality.0
As its suppose to be free but its really NOT, only for 2 screens not even 2 computers, so if u have a laptop with second scra and another PC with one ur done and not nicely, works for cca 5 min a than kick out or pay, its not even possible to to use only one of those screens.4
Worked instantly across two Macs, one even with diffferent OS.1
It is cross platform. Super easy to set up, and most importantly, it is absolutely free for personal use!-1
Input Leap is software that mimics the functionality of a KVM switch, which historically would allow you to use a single keyboard and mouse to control multiple computers by physically turning a dial on the box to switch the machine you're controlling at any given moment.

Comments about Logitech Options as a Alternative to Synergy
Not even close to providing the same functions as Synergy.1
Logi Options is not a software-based KVM switch.0
It is a driver for Logitech products and does not support cross-platform functionality whatsoever1
Logitech options is a hardware keyboard and mouse switching, requires specialized hardware, paired with both devices. It does nothing over the network, like synergy. All options does is detect when you get to the border, and changes the pairing of your mouse and keyboard to a second machine. If you don't have the mouse and keyboard, it doesn't work.6
