This is the only cross-platform solution I've found so far, and it's working a heck of a lot better than Synergy!

Last update from November 2021. Main developers moved to Input Leap. For now both Input Leap and Barrier are more or less at the same state, but going forward Input Leap might be the better choice.

Fantastically easy to use, although only on windows computers so it's not always an alternative to Synergy (which I'm using right now, because Linux...)

Mouse sensitivity is inconsistent across screens with varying resolutions. Adjusting settings for uniform sensitivity leads to discrepancies in mouse acceleration.

It's an extremely reliable keyboard/mouse sharing program for Windows computers, with built-in encryption, a rather intuitive screen configurator for relative positions, and UDP or TCP communications. I've used it for over half a decade with great results. It's a pity that it doesn't work with other operating systems, but there's only so much that one programmer can do.

It works great between monitors with different orientations and resolutions, which is not well handled by several other software, and the new version has a nice interface.

Input Leap is software that mimics the functionality of a KVM switch, which historically would allow you to use a single keyboard and mouse to control multiple computers by physically turning a dial on the box to switch the machine you're controlling at any given moment.

As its suppose to be free but its really NOT, only for 2 screens not even 2 computers, so if u have a laptop with second scra and another PC with one ur done and not nicely, works for cca 5 min a than kick out or pay, its not even possible to to use only one of those screens.

While the description is a little vague, they seem to imply that your keyboard/mouse input is sent to another PC when you move your mouse into a tiny window on either PC.

Logitech options is a hardware keyboard and mouse switching, requires specialized hardware, paired with both devices. It does nothing over the network, like synergy. All options does is detect when you get to the border, and changes the pairing of your mouse and keyboard to a second machine. If you don't have the mouse and keyboard, it doesn't work.
