It has the right codecs to play files that are used in mpc-hc to play video files. That's why it can deliver the same output.

It's all about the functionality while playing, the capability in adjusting the control keys and the skip times configuration. Yeah, it can be personalized and the wide of the compatible video and audio formats is almost equal, yet VLC is still no capable of being personalized in the important thing to me.

It's one alternative, not the best, MPC-HC is very very fast and simple , it's a shame that doesn't exist a very MPC-HC equivalent app in Linux comunity.

Doesn't even support hardware decoding, crappy UI. Windows 10's Movies & TV is miles ahead of VLC in, basically everything

Can't save last file position. Can't keep playlists between sessions. Custom hotkeys don't work.

Wow, extraordinary: simple, light, just gets the job done. No tons of codecs tuning, only an effective player.

This alternative is disputed. Clementine is still a legitimate alternative to MPC-HC, but it might have issues that some users think are important.
Anyone looking for a replacement of MPC-HC is looking for a good video player not a music player.
