GOM Player supports file formats such as AVI, DAT, MPEG, DivX, XviD, WMV, ASF.
Bundleware
The installer contains additional bloatware that can hijack your browser's settings. Be careful during the installation: https://alternativeto.net/discussions/applications/11718/be-careful-in-the-installation/

Unlike VLCPlayer it does not hang a lot , can jump forward and backward without it waiting few seconds,in short quicker than vlc.

Best player for DVD media!
It used to be a great media player but with the latest version is turn into a adware application, free but bloatware. Too bad.
I liked GOM Media Player because, when I change the speed or fast forward to a point there isn't an irritating pause in the sound (like in VLC).
i think this is the most versatile player with alot of good features for PRO users, i especially like their .TS player is much faster than VLC player, im switching from VLC to this player! I really enjoyed how detailed each feature you can customize.

Excellent subtitle features! You can change subtitle font, color, position and sync in real time with keybord shortcuts! No need to save/close/open for the changes to be applied.
I'd like to update my previous comment.
Been using GOM Player for a while now, and I have to say that in regard to ease of use, functionality and performance, it simply kicks VLC's ass.
