JohnFastman The best non-open source app for Windows that plays music. Great at organizing music collections and even suggests local gigs based on bands you have stored in your library. But I would go for an open source alternative, and MusicBee doesn't help me have the same library on non-Windows machines.

A similar interface, supports using folders as playlists so in that sense it's even better than itunes, many beautiful themes, lightweight. Musicbee feels like home, coming from itunes.

There are a lot of customisation options, if you're interested in that. There are many skins, and you could also make your own skin if you know how to. MusicBee also has auto tag options, which is useful if you don't wanna do all that work. You can also organise your music however you'd like. There's a music explorer tab where It even suggests similar artists you might've not even heard of.

Well developed, massive customization and features available (but still extremely lightweight and quick!), similar to foobar out of the box. I maintain a massive collection of digital recordings, and after using every media player through the years, I find myself setting MusicBee up on each of my new computers.

glengaldine Really good. Started to use it in my Linux years (mostly on Arch), and using it still on macOS. Interface is a bit chaotic, but it's much better then iTunes so far.

ndlinn Probably the only app I’ve encountered that currently does all that iTunes does and more, but the layout is much more cumbersome and clunky and will take some serious getting used-to.
