I do not use Windows, and PotPlayer is Windows-only. That automatically means I cannot use it. I just moved completely to Linux a week ago after CoPilot appeared on my PC after an update, and remained after uninstall. I really LIKE PotPlayer, but again, now that I'm Linux-only on all 4 PCs, it's of no use to me. VLC is the next, closest alternative.

You need to configure mpc over cli or config file, unlike MPC-HC/BE or PotPlayer withe outstanding GUI. I was seen some pdf manual to MPV, which had few hundreds pages. For MPC and PotPlayer I newer needed to use manual - everything was clear thanks to logical GUI structure.

SMPlayer is just a skin for old MPlayer - not very customizable software with much less capabilities than PotPlayer.

SMPlayer and Pot player are not very similar at first glance. But SMPlayer is heavily customizable. You can get 99.99% features of pot player in SMPlayer by tweaking. Just be patient first time

Good design, no glitches, good subtitle support and rendering, easy and accessible settings (video, audios, subs). It's not as complete as Potplayer or other Windows players, but is the best FOSS video player I found for MacOs. Recommended
