Mouse without Borders VS Synergy
Is this a good alternative to Synergy?Comments about Mouse without Borders as an Alternative to Synergy
Comment summary: Mouse without Borders offers features like drag-and-drop file transfers that some users prefer over Synergy, but its Windows-only support is a major limitation. Many users report setup ease and reliable performance; however, others face issues with installation bugs, inconsistent mouse sensitivity, and lack of cross-platform support. Overall, it is praised for its simplicity and effectiveness on Windows, yet criticized for not meeting the cross-platform capabilities Synergy provides.Fantastically easy to use, although only on windows computers so it's not always an alternative to Synergy (which I'm using right now, because Linux...)
5Platform support is lacking significantly.
6Slinet6056Mouse sensitivity is inconsistent across screens with varying resolutions. Adjusting settings for uniform sensitivity leads to discrepancies in mouse acceleration.

misterrobatoVery easy painless setup. It's free.
0Slinet6056It works great between monitors with different orientations and resolutions, which is not well handled by several other software, and the new version has a nice interface.
0It's very reliable, and the double tap to switch screens is great. Clipboard sharing works well too. The little window to show status helps when you have multiple monitors.

Move the mouse to the monitor of the computer you wish to control and the pointer magically jumps to that computer. Any mouse and keyboard input is transmitted to the corresponding computer.

My firewall was messing with Synergy, but ShareMouse just magically worked - amazing!
0As its suppose to be free but its really NOT, only for 2 screens not even 2 computers, so if u have a laptop with second scra and another PC with one ur done and not nicely, works for cca 5 min a than kick out or pay, its not even possible to to use only one of those screens.
4meyerischMore features, easier setup, more reliable functionality.

Comments about Barrier as an Alternative to Synergy
This is the only cross-platform solution I've found so far, and it's working a heck of a lot better than Synergy!
No longer maintained as of Feb 2022, development efforts have continued under the "InputLeap" project on GitHub
Last update from November 2021. Main developers moved to Input Leap. For now both Input Leap and Barrier are more or less at the same state, but going forward Input Leap might be the better choice.
