Recording video seems to be a key feature of ShareX, and it's not possible in Greenshot. It's certainly not an applicable alternative for me today, but I think they're not good alternatives for each other in general - ShareX is probably worth listing as an alternative on Greenshot, but the scope of use is quite different, and it probably has a much larger footprint on the user's machine.

Flameshot allows you to quickly take a screenshot, draw a couple boxes, and save it to your clipboard faster than any other software I've tried. For me, any additional UI after that point is also a dealbreaker, which flameshot doesn't have. Once you're done with your screenshot, you're done. Quick and simple.

blackwhattack Can't record videos, no global shortcut. ShareX has a lot of great miscellaneous tools (like OCR, color detection). Doesn't automatically suggest a screenshot region based on windows.

no obvious option to add a hotkey, must be executed through GUI with a button. not a massive issue for people who barely take screenshots, but super bad for those of us who use the feature a lot.

Ola I have been using ShareX for years but it's always been a pain to configure and so on. If you need LOADS of features and freedom to upload where you want and so on ShareX is great but really like the simplicity of Lightshot.

tytanick A little bit heavy but it has super cool features. Easy and fast screenshoting in mac. Instantly you can draw nice arrows and text. Also you can use smart feature that detects things like text box, text itself, images, bars, and it makes separate elements from those things and then it allows you to move them. So when you want to show your developer where should something go, then it is more easy to do so.
