Flameshot is currently my favorite tool to quickly make screenshots and annotate them.
It is more simple, lightweight but still powerful.
Offers similar functionality to ShareX but then on Linux
Can't record videos, no global shortcut. ShareX has a lot of great miscellaneous tools (like OCR, color detection). Doesn't automatically suggest a screenshot region based on windows.
I can't upload to custom server.
no obvious option to add a hotkey, must be executed through GUI with a button. not a massive issue for people who barely take screenshots, but super bad for those of us who use the feature a lot.
Too much clutter and many steps. ShareX is QUICKER, more lightweight.
Flameshot allows you to quickly take a screenshot, draw a couple boxes, and save it to your clipboard faster than any other software I've tried. For me, any additional UI after that point is also a dealbreaker, which flameshot doesn't have. Once you're done with your screenshot, you're done. Quick and simple.
