SciTE Alternatives

    SciTE is described as 'SCIntilla based Text Editor. Originally built to demonstrate Scintilla, it has grown to be a generally useful editor with facilities for building and running programs' and is a well-known app in the Development category. There are more than 100 alternatives to SciTE for a variety of platforms, including Windows, Mac, Linux, BSD and Chrome OS. The best alternative is Visual Studio Code, which is free. Other great apps like SciTE are Notepad++ (Free, Open Source), Atom (Free, Open Source), Sublime Text (Free Personal) and Vim (Free, Open Source).
