ONLYOFFICE VS Microsoft Word
Is ONLYOFFICE a good alternative to Microsoft Word?Comments about ONLYOFFICE as an Alternative to Microsoft Word
If you know how to use Word, the you will feel at home using OnlyOffice. It's feature rich, supports all platforms and even the browser. You can collaborate with other people, and OnlyOffcie respects your privacy.
Compared to something like Apple Pages, it's not the cleanest and smoothest experience, but if you have used MS Word og LibreOffice, it won't be a problem.
2RiseiIt has a nice UI, and good support for microsoft document formats.
3Daniel CastelliBest alternative I tested to date.
1Hudson BorgesIts one of the best options to Microsoft Office, it has almost all tools. And is by far better then LibreOffice or OpenOffice.
1Very similar layout to Microsoft Office so its the best alternative for people use to that. And especially for me, ecuations in google docs and libre office are ugly compare to Microsoft format which OnlyOffice use.

Apache OpenOffice Writer VS Microsoft Word
Is this a good alternative to Microsoft Word?Comments about Apache OpenOffice Writer as an Alternative to Microsoft Word
chtfnUnfortunately, is lagging far behind LibreOffice. Would be great to see development pick up and take a different direction, but it seems very much stalled, with the latest major in 2014 (7 years ago at the time of writing). I strongly recommend using LibreOffice instead, for security reasons, and also for newer features.
5Martin MartinIt is basically a free version of Microsoft Office.
2AndreStorkIt's pretty much the worst Office alternative available. It has a bad UI and I shouldn't talk about compatibility with .docx files
1Larry TuckerI like OpenOffice's easier user features and dropdowns better than Word. I do use Word with Grammarly after I've finished my writing for editing.
0Pietro SmusiFree, simple, open-source. The interface is a bit old-styled, but you may actually like that more.

WPS Writer VS Microsoft Word
Is WPS Writer a good alternative to Microsoft Word?Comments about WPS Writer as an Alternative to Microsoft Word
The tool almost same as microsoft office. I think It's the closest to microsoft office
2I think WPS Office is the closest you can get to Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint). It handels .docx witch was my main problem. The WPS Writer may be in a early stage but I see alot of potential of it becomming better, more easy to use, beautiful and more stable.
7Very poor multi language / proofing support.
8AndrewFNAFThis is a free, low in size, easy to use alternative to Word, which comes packed with tons of features, even for Students.
0VERY GOOD PROGRAM BUT IT IS NOT OPEN SOURCE so keep that in mind. I, personally, did not use it. but, a friend of mine uses it and spoke greatly about it. He said it deserves 10 out of 10 in every term (Easiness , Responsiveness , Stability , etc.)

TextMaker VS Microsoft Word
Is TextMaker a good alternative to Microsoft Word?Comments about TextMaker as an Alternative to Microsoft Word
If you are like me: one who only needs the necessary to fulfill your needs, and really like when the response of the software comes quickly (think that the MS Office in general certainly does not). This is the right solution. It is fully compatible with outputs formats from MS Word; it is fast; and it does everything you need to white a nice and organized document, whatever that is.
5it is cheaper, easier to use, and virtually compatible with Microsoft Word.
1KlausThe free version (FreeOffice) ist quite sufficient for everyday word processing tasks. The commercial version (SoftMaker Office) has in its latest version nice extra features like DeepL and ChatGPT integration. Both versions are highly compatible with MS word (much better than LibreOffice; docx may even be used as the standard file format) and much easier to handle. Much better support than MS, very responsive forum. All in all, the best word processor I have found so far.
0Lori_WYUKno subscription. opens every microsoft word doc
1DiegoAzetaPowerful features with a very intuitive interface. Outputs in MS Word formats plus ODT, PDF, HTML and ePub, among many others. Reads most common formats, including MS Word. Fully customizable interface. Fast and compact. Excellent documentation. The best word processor for personal use, period.

Pages VS Microsoft Word
Is Pages a good alternative to Microsoft Word?Comments about Pages as an Alternative to Microsoft Word
maurosoft391Pages is free, but it's not compatible with Windows and linux. Pages is apple-only and if you don't have a mac or an iPhone, you have to select buggy software like libreoffice.
1rose64bitMicrosoft Office Word is expensive and slow, but Pages is free, fast, responsive, and integrates very well with the rest of macOS.
7George GarnerClean, simple, yet powerful app design puts all of the editing tools within easy reach and without clutter.
7Joey WestIt's annoyingly blank and too basic for my needs - doesn't really do enough to be considered an alternative to MS Word - maybe WordPAD or Notepad - bot not WORD.. That's not a fair or accurate comparison - that would be like trying to compare a basic guestbook addon to a WordPress installation - It's just not the same thing ...

Comments about LibreOffice - Writer as an Alternative to Microsoft Word
If you do not need some very rare functions, LibreOffice Writer is better and totally libre alternative!
It has virtually everything that MS Word does with exception of the most exotic functions - but it's 100% Open Source and 100% free.
It's an incredibly reliable tool available to everyone, helping them to get started.
It is a really good alternative to MS Word and Free/Open Source
It's ok it's free no ads and docx file are easy to edit but it's hard to use and missing some features like on MS Word like croping an image into shape the toolbars are missing some icon and features sometimes you need to add manually maybe because it's not MS Word haha but for me it's a big OK.
