The newer Libre Office version (6.3.4) have less compatible than older version (6.2.8). The docx file when open is very wrong format that not acceptable. And saving file in docx file will make file read only that can't enable to editing. OpenOffice is better

I like LibreOffice because is free! all the different apps come inside the main software unlike MS Office which you pay yearly or monthly.

For one, it's completely libre and open-source, the interface is clean and easy to use, you can use it on almost any operating system (it comes preinstalled with quite a few Linux distributions), and on top of that, it's not from Microsoft.

It is absolutely free. It also has some incredible features like pdf to word and much more. WPS Office gives all necessary components of MS-Office i.e. Word, Excel, Power Point. The best part is that it is cross-platform.

VERY GOOD PROGRAM BUT IT IS NOT OPEN SOURCE so keep that in mind. I, personally, did not use it. but, a friend of mine uses it and spoke greatly about it. He said it deserves 10 out of 10 in every term (Easiness , Responsiveness , Stability , etc.)

Has many many features similar to Microsoft Word, and some that it doesn't it. Much more lightweight to run than Microsoft Word. The Spell Check needs some major help.

Unfortunately, is lagging far behind LibreOffice. Would be great to see development pick up and take a different direction, but it seems very much stalled, with the latest major in 2014 (7 years ago at the time of writing). I strongly recommend using LibreOffice instead, for security reasons, and also for newer features.

It's pretty much the worst Office alternative available. It has a bad UI and I shouldn't talk about compatibility with .docx files

Powerful features with a very intuitive interface. Outputs in MS Word formats plus ODT, PDF, HTML and ePub, among many others. Reads most common formats, including MS Word. Fully customizable interface. Fast and compact. Excellent documentation. The best word processor for personal use, period.

If you are like me: one who only needs the necessary to fulfill your needs, and really like when the response of the software comes quickly (think that the MS Office in general certainly does not). This is the right solution. It is fully compatible with outputs formats from MS Word; it is fast; and it does everything you need to white a nice and organized document, whatever that is.
