HelixNotes is a local markdown note-taking app built with Rust, Tauri 2.0, and SvelteKit. Your notes are standard .md files on your filesystem - sync with whatever you want or nothing at all.
Features: rich markdown editor with formatting toolbar and slash commands, full-text search powered by Tantivy, graph view for visualizing note connections via wiki-links, AI writing tools (bring your own Anthropic or OpenAI key), per-note version history with diff view, dark/light themes with 8 accent colors, and more.
Available for Linux (AppImage, APT, AUR), Windows, and macOS. Open source, AGPL-3.0.

Great app if you want a local way to store Markdown documents. It could use some QoL improvements, but overall it looks great and works well.
Best FOSS alternative to Obsidian, even imports directly.
What us all want : File based , simple and beautiful.
It's the best note taking app that I've found after years ! Use Syncthing and that is it : Future proof cross-platform note taking ! And it's beautiful ! Go out of Joplin !
