very simple and quick. been searching for Trello alternatives for a looong time.

accessible everywhere, if you have an internet connection, that is.

private and public boards! means you can share view-only pages with other people.

not colorful at all (only light/dark mode), except for tags. you can use colorful emoji instead.

  6. as a person cursed by visual thinking, i depend on widgets. nothing on the screen? nothing to do! (kill me.)

as one AuDHD person said: "after my brain gets used to seeing something in one place for too long I don't notice it anymore. So a sticky note will work for about a week. Then my brain no longer notices it." and i agree with it. this is why changing colors and size is so important for me.

if you feel like you got used to some widget or colors, change them. make it stimulate your brain again.

and this one has 3 widgets: today's date, agenda, month view (with events). the most important part: you can resize fonts and widgets, choose colors and background opacity. helps when you need a reminder to scream in your face right at your home page. and yes, you have the whole color wheel.

as for the app itself: even more colors customization, events/tasks, different views: month, week, agenda, day, month + agenda (split view).

  9. to use together with Suntimes or instead of it. it contains way more information. sometimes it's better, something it's not.

but knowing weather is good for planning anyway! :) especially info about air quality, UV index and allergens.

helps with starting an algorithm: checking the weather - picking right clothes - taking things for this weather (gloves, umbrella, etc.) - going outise.

if the amount of information inside of the app itself is too much, then simple widgets could help.

  15. to write/code

Did You Know? My current hyperfixation is coding. Send help.

(!!!) paper journal has been the most simple and reliable thing all these years.

  16. (!!!) customization is hidden in menu, which means you won't be tempted to endlessly tinkering your CSS. posting page is simple and stripped from distractions. markdown is default, but you can use HTML too.

cool for archiving if you have a website! or local copies.

i don't like social aspects of microblogging, but i like making public text posts. also i dislike complex setups. so this thing is perfect for me.

trying out right now:

  • excalidraw for mind-map or... at least some visualization.
  • saber notes for hand-written notes. it seems like something useful when i need to visualize my thoughts right neaw. usual paper jounal is better for it, of course, but... will try it.
  • goblin tools seems like a good little helper, though i'm not a fan of genAI for many reasons.

things that didn't work for me, but might work for others:

  • Obsidian and logseq are too complex, not suitable for thoughts dump. i've been stuck in tinkering app itself instead of actually using it. that's a trap for my AuDHD mind.
  • bear blog is perfect in everything, yet doesn't work for me for some reason. don't ask why. i don't know.
