Comment summary: Google Docs is praised for its ease of use, collaboration tools, automatic saving feature, and being free, making it ideal for students and team-based projects. It excels in real-time editing and document sharing, but users raise concerns about its web-based nature limiting offline access and privacy issues due to its cloud reliance. Some users suggest that Google Docs has superior functionality compared to Microsoft Word, although handling images can be problematic.

Such a shame that the app is online-only. I have a poor mobile phone connection most of the time, so editing stuff on the go is impossible.

They have many minor improvements over years. They don't make news for every change. Some features can be undocumented.

Try new things yourself!

Google docs is not a good alternative for microsoft office. If you need to do things online, I would still recommend microsoft office online.

Google is just the best for online work. Editing and suggesting modes are amazing for team work and learning without immediate changes.

Used it to write my papers in college/uni. It took off alot of stress, since it saves automatically in the cloud. Google's format doesn't take up any space in Google Drive. Files can be downloaded as pdfs, docx, odf, and others. I mostly download files as docx. Combined with LibreOffice for local use, it's pretty useful.

It's recommend for taking notes, and making bibliographies. Most of my classmates and I used Google's office suit to collab on assignments if needed.

What is Google Docs?

Google Docs is an online word processor, part of Google Drive icon Google Drive, that lets you create and format text documents and collaborate with other people in real time. Here's what you can do with Google Docs:

• Upload a Word document and convert it to a Google document. • Add flair and formatting to your documents by adjusting margins, spacing, fonts, and colors — all that fun stuff. • Invite other people to collaborate on a document with you, giving them edit, comment or view access. • Collaborate online in real time and chat with other collaborators — right from inside the document. • View your document's revision history and roll back to any previous version. • Download a Google document to your desktop as a Word, OpenOffice, RTF, PDF, HTML or zip file. • Translate a document to a different language. • Email your documents to other people as attachments.
