Easy interface, works reliably and efficiently on many backends, strong security by default.

Don't recommend for huge backups.

I'm using Duplicati 1.3.4 and backing up 600gb of files (with encryption) is pretty slow. I might end up trying the 2.0 beta from GitHub. But as it stands now I'm going to keep on using Cobian Backup and rethink a better backup strategy. Maybe when a stable 2.0 get released I will make the switch.

Other then that it's a solid backup software with good security, give it a go! However I would break your backups down into smaller chunks and run them on different days of the week so your not wasting huge chunks of time backing up!

Range of places impressive; cons: single archive, UI sucks

The biggest limitation of Duplicati, as I see it, is that the target of the backup is always a single archive file. Many of the other tools in this space (for example, GFI Backup) can either create a compressed and/or encrypted archive (like Duplicati) OR, a replica of the local file system. This has the merit that tools like GFI Backup can be used for backing up OR for creating and maintaining a mirror.

Oh, and the UI sucks. To run a single back up task once, I have to right click on the system tray icon, then click "wizard", then click "run a backup immediately", then select my backup, then click "next", then click "finish".

That said, the range of places that Duplicati is capable of backing up to is impressive.

One good thing is that the installer- or more accurately the uninstaller, only left behind 3 pieces of trash.

This was a letdown because it's settings mentioned the use of hash checks, presumably to be sure its not corrupting stuff.
But it errored as soon as I ran it, like this:

this is not so straightforward.
It's a case of having the right commandline with the options inserted in the Create Task of Windows Task Scheduler. But which is it?
Duplicati has so little about the matter on their page.
Hopefully some experienced user will drop here the guide.
Something along the line: ```
duplicaticommandline.exe (is that the right exe?) --dbpath=.... --encrypt=.... --exclude=....

Exclusion of directories is so unpenetrable to me for now. I guess I will get it later but help is always apreciated.
Will Task Scheduler kick that exe into execution or is some other Service running needed?
Howto is lacking with this one.
