Google introduces Workspace Intelligence for deeper context integration within Gemini

Google has unveiled Workspace Intelligence, a new system that goes beyond previous integrations by understanding complex semantic relationships within Google Workspace applications, ongoing projects, collaborators, and organizational knowledge domains. Workspace Intelligence streamlines work by automating information gathering and situational awareness, while delivering a personalized experience tailored to each user.

Building on this foundation, Ask Gemini in Chat introduces a unified command line experience directly within Google Chat. Users can state their goals, request summaries, or generate outputs, with Gemini executing tasks and delivering results straight into their chat threads. This feature also provides daily briefings, surfaces critical tasks, and manages unread threads or urgent items. Additionally, Gemini can now generate documents and slides, coordinate meeting schedules, track down files using simple descriptions, and connect seamlessly with external tools such as Asana, Jira, and Salesforce through expanded third-party connectors.

Further enhancing productivity, Sheets allows whole spreadsheets to be created or modified using natural language, Docs supports infographics insertion and comment-driven edits, and Slides enables soon-to-launch, one-shot generation of editable slide decks. With AI Inbox, Gmail now highlights urgent emails, while AI Overviews convert search queries into clear answers. Rounding out these updates, Drive Projects offer centralized file and email organization, ensuring both users and Gemini have complete contextual awareness during collaboration.
