Google Smart Compose now solves math equations in real time across Google Workspace apps
Google has improved its AI tool Smart Compose, to solve math equations in real time in various apps like Google Docs, Google Slides, Google Sheets, and Google Drawings. Users can now get solutions to equations as grey text suggestions immediately after typing an equation ending with the equal sign (=).
Introduced a few years ago for Gmail, Smart Compose is now widely used in other Google services such as Google Chat and for faster content creation and response to comments. The new math-solving feature is aimed at improving productivity and accuracy in dealing with mathematical equations across Google Workspace. Users can activate this feature by navigating to Tools Preferences, selecting 'Show Smart Compose suggestions,' and clicking OK.
The new math-solving functionality is being rolled out to different Google Workspace tiers, where users can directly type equations into the supported Google apps, eliminating the need for a separate calculator; just keep in mind that the company itself has warned that Smart Compose may not always provide factually correct information.
