Tombo is described as 'A freeware, lightweight, hierarchical notepad app. Development is (very slowly) ongoing but although the latest version is in late Beta the previous version works very well' and is a Note-taking tool in the office & productivity category. There are more than 100 alternatives to Tombo for a variety of platforms, including Windows, Mac, Linux, Android and iPhone apps. The best Tombo alternative is Trilium Notes, which is both free and Open Source. Other great apps like Tombo are CherryTree, Cryptee, Tomboy and RedNotebook.
