TightVNC is a free remote control software package. With TightVNC, you can see the desktop of a remote machine and control it with your local mouse and keyboard, just like you would do it sitting in the front of that computer.
Fast, simple, effective, reliable, fully featured (excepting audio transmission)

Great client for linux! Installed ultravnc server on windows server and used TightVNC client for linux client. Setting the client option for jpeg compression at 2 makes everything faster, though a little fuzzy.

Hello I am looking to administrate windows computers from my Linux computer avoiding such application like Teamviewer or in better word with a GNU licence or open licence. So I tried Ultra VNC on the windows side but I was desappointed: when I try to open a simple menu I don't see any time these menu on the linux computer and it require a lot of time for any update. So it is not possible for me to help the users. Certainly the configuration is not correct but I never found any good information to solve such problems. If some body has an idee I would appreciate any help. Regards.

Its possible to transfer files and clipboard content ( also non English characters) between client and server , and Tightvnc is the only tool that allows this commercially free , version 2.04 may-bee not as fast as team-viewer , but defiantly worthy substitute.
