What is DeskVNC?

DeskVNC is a free and open source remote desktop client for Windows, macOS and Linux that brings VNC, RDP and SSH connections into one application.

Built natively in Rust with Tauri, DeskVNC includes its own Rust implementations of the VNC, RDP and SSH protocol cores rather than wrapping existing remote desktop libraries. You can organize remote machines, open multiple sessions in tabs, split sessions into panes, transfer files, use SSH terminals, share the clipboard, scan the local network for available machines and securely store credentials using the operating system keychain.

What makes DeskVNC different is that it is designed for both humans and AI agents. Its optional MCP control plane allows compatible AI agents to connect to remote computers, see their screens, click, type, transfer files and execute commands using ordinary VNC, RDP or SSH connections. No additional agent software needs to be installed on the remote computer, and a human can take control of a session at any time.

DeskVNC requires no account, includes no telemetry and has no paid tier restricting features. It is licensed under MIT or Apache 2.0 and is under active development.
