As the more-than-one-line reviews here ale mostly quite old, I would first alert everyone, that Google had changed the way the program works on desktop platforms considerably some time ago, and some information in these older reviews may not be relevant anymore. What remains is, you need Google account. Moreover, you also need Chrome, Chromium or possibly other Chromium-based browser.
To connect to an existing server, you do not need any other software. Just by navigating to https://remotedesktop.google.com/, you get web-based interface you can use instantly. To use the server part, ie. to set your computer to access it remotely or allow someone to assist you over internet, you can install the server part from that web interface seamlessly. You can install also chrome browser app, which seems to be basically stripped down Chrome window with unnecessary controls removed (ie. all controls, because everything you need is inside the web page) - this is good if you use it frequently, as you have separate icon for remote desktop, and it seems to start a little faster than the whole browser.
Did I say you need Chrome/Chromium? Not entirely true. I just tried and was able to connect to my remote machine using the above mentioned url also using Firefox. It basically worked, but with glitches - for example the remote desktop was not shrinking to be visible whole. I do not know if using Firefox would be stable and what other quirks I might discover later, but it still might prove useful to know, that if needed, I can reach my computer from anywhere even from a computer with just Firefox. Tried even Edge - that did not work for me (yet?).
All in all, I like the app.
Pros for me:
The downsides:

LOL Server part is not portable (on the USB stick) that would be like a serious R.A.T. :)

Just finished a short test session with a friend of mine (mac and windows clients) and it worked like a dream. Smooth scrolling and easier than Teamviewer. Only downside is that it's a hefty 19mb download, not your average google chrome app size.
It requires google account, installed apps on devices, and google chrome to work properly
The software is easy to use and the multi-platform feature is great, it's missing a Wake On Lan feature or the ability to wake a sleeping workstation on the other end.
It's becoming very unsafe, many people eft reviews on it and nearly had the same problem. The extension has not gotten an update for 3 years, do not use it.
I really like this software. Just because it's easy to use it with your own computer if you have to. There is no problem to connect to your home PC or work PC if necessary.
But because of some freeze problem let is be 4
am too helped me
