What is WhipDesk?
WhipDesk is an open-source, mobile-first remote desktop tool designed for developers who want to access and control their development machine from a phone or browser.
Unlike terminal-only remote tools, WhipDesk provides access to the full desktop, including IDEs, browsers, terminals, and other native applications. It uses viewport-based streaming to keep text and UI readable on small screens while reducing unnecessary bandwidth.
WhipDesk is especially useful for monitoring and controlling AI coding agents such as Codex or Claude Code while away from the computer. You can respond to prompts, approve actions, interact with the IDE, or continue work remotely without being limited to a terminal interface.
It also includes tools for scheduling prompts and recurring work, storing reusable prompts, and receiving notifications when a machine or AI agent needs attention.
WhipDesk is open source and uses end-to-end encrypted WebRTC connections. Connections are primarily peer-to-peer, with TURN relays used when direct connections are not possible.
