    • This is the best alternative to TeamViewer for those on a budget. Does pretty much everything TeamViewer can, with the exception of needing to open ports in your firewall. Since you can specify ports, it's not as vulnerable as one would think, simply use non standard ports and a very strong password. Guest • Apr 2017 • 12 agrees and 15 disagrees Disagree   Agree

    • Remmina is a great RDP or VNC client. These are already listed as remote desktop technologies. Let's be clear the main advantage of TeamViewer (and LogMeIn) is that the remote computer only needs an Internet connection. No port forwarding required. • Unlike TeamViewer, it's not a centralized solution, dependant on servers owned by some company that might go out of business eventually, and contrary to what some people say, setting up VNC connections isn't complicated at all (inside the same subnet it's trivial, across NAT-ted subnets it only requires some port forwarding, voila, done). TeamViewer-like software should be taken into consideration only by computer-newbies in my opinion. AtoshiDec 2016 • 7 agrees and 19 disagrees Disagree   Agree
