Not even close to the topic. This is a remote desktop control program, not remote assistant kind of service.

It has too much options for an incompetent user to setup. Also, it does not tell the external IP address of the user, so I cannot connect.

This is the best alternative to TeamViewer for those on a budget. Does pretty much everything TeamViewer can, with the exception of needing to open ports in your firewall. Since you can specify ports, it's not as vulnerable as one would think, simply use non standard ports and a very strong password.

TightVNC requires server configuration and port forwarding. Too complicated for the average remote client who uses Team Viewer for remote support.

Remmina is a great RDP or VNC client. These are already listed as remote desktop technologies. Let's be clear the main advantage of TeamViewer (and LogMeIn) is that the remote computer only needs an Internet connection. No port forwarding required.

Remmina is only a client. It connects to computers that are already running a remote access service, but doesn't provide any remote access service itself.

elrey741 Really awesome for Linux users to remotely connect to their computers through a secure connection. Allows for transmission of audio from the client, and works really well even with slow connections. To summarize: secure by default (because using ssh), good even in low latency, good for presentations, and best alternative to RDP for linux users.

My purpose was to have a tool to connect to a computer in the same private network that mine so i did not want the traffic to go outside home. This makes for me aspia the best alternative from the others ones because it was the simplest to to install: no dependencies just run

khat17 Aspia is great for direct connections on the same network. It will also work for public IP connected devices, but needs no settings to be changed for local network connections.
