Original author of Remotely here.
Immense Networks has not discontinued Remotely. I've been in frequent contact with Darren (VP at Immense), and he has lots of plans for it.
Please see his update on GitHub: https://github.com/immense/Remotely#status
An editor has added a note that it's "Discontinued" but I don't think that's wholly true. The server, https://app.remotely.one, is a demo implementation of the Open Source code used for Remotely's server. The GitHub does appear to be continuing to get updates as it's been moved from translucency to Immense's GitHub.
INCREDIBLE! I can NOT understand why this remote desktop software does not have more reviews (I am the first at the time of writing). It is incredibly responsive with a very fast streaming and high quality image. It is definitely the BEST open-source remote desktop software, a real gem.
It uses GPU accelerated rendering and WebRTC encrypted with TLS/SSL certificate and is SUPER fast, it's undoubtedly the fastest open-source streaming remote desktop agent (tested with 1080p YouTube videos). Not as fast as Parsec but similar to NoMachine, but with MUCH better image quality. It is completely open-source, both the agents, browser client, and the relay server. There is no network configuration as it uses a reverse connection just like TeamViewer to bypass firewalls. The agents can be installed to run unattended, or can be run once like TeamViewer by sharing a preconfigured binary the dashboard can generate for you, and that the other party has to run, and it will automatically connect to your dashboard for a one-time assistance session. It is definitely the best open-source remote desktop implementation out there in terms of performance. Agent works on Windows and Linux, and they can be accessed from any device with a web browser. Support transparent clipboard copy/pasting from host to guest and inversely.
After Parsec (which is unfortunately proprietary), Remotely is my 2nd choice remote desktop software, it is so much better than any other open-source alternative out there, there's only RustDesk that comes close but not quite as fast as Remotely. Kudos to the dev, he made an incredible job.
You must made my day! Thank you! :)
(And I agree, Parsec is awesome. Amazing app. I've used it for playing PC games on my phone.)
