Hi everyone — I'm the developer of BURSUcm, so treat this as a disclosure rather than a review.

I built it because I was juggling a terminal for SSH, a separate RDP client, and a spreadsheet full of credentials across a mixed Linux/Windows estate. The idea was one workspace for all of it: SSH, RDP, VNC, Telnet, Serial, FTP and SFTP in tabs, with RDP and VNC rendered inside the app rather than handed off elsewhere.

Two things I'd especially like feedback on: the built-in RDP engine, and the storage model — you can keep everything in a local SQLite file, point it at your own PostgreSQL, or use our sync backend, and the app is fully usable offline with no account.

It's free on Windows, macOS, Linux and Android. If something is broken or missing, I'd rather hear it here than not hear it at all.

What is BURSU Connection Manager?

BURSU Connection Manager (BURSUcm) keeps every server, credential and teammate in one workspace. SSH, RDP, VNC, Telnet, Serial, Web, FTP and SFTP sessions all open in tabs, with a full embedded terminal, a side-by-side SFTP file panel, split view for two sessions at once and an embedded remote desktop.

Reach servers behind a bastion with ProxyJump chains, open local and remote port-forwarding tunnels together with the session, and authenticate with keys from the OpenSSH agent. Remote desktops run inside a tab through built-in engines: RDP with H.264 graphics, remote audio, clipboard and multi-monitor support, VNC with TLS/VeNCrypt encryption, scaling and view-only mode.

Credentials are encrypted at rest with a portable AES-256-GCM master-password vault, or Windows DPAPI on Windows. Folders inherit credentials, and nested folders carry per-folder grants controlling who can view, edit or reveal passwords. TOTP secrets live next to the login they belong to, so a live six-digit code is one click away.

Storage works three ways: a local SQLite file, your own PostgreSQL server, or BURSUcloud — an optional zero-knowledge backend where the catalog lives in an isolated database and the master password never leaves the device. The app works fully offline; an account is only needed for sync and team sharing.
