Comments and Reviews
SecureCRT has replaced 3 or more different applications that I use for interacting with the estate of components that I manage. The scripting capability has saved me weeks of time in automating routine tasks. Although this is an expensive tool, it has paid for itself many times over
First impression is that the interface is quite dated, the tiny little toolbar buttons remind me of the Windows 3.11 days.
The software is rather expensive too, $99 for single user license with one year of updates, or $139 for three years of updates.
Maybe someone with more experience using the application can comment on any advanced features that make it worthwhile.
It is expensive, but fast and have many features.
Did you see the form they make you go through to download, in order to comply with US export regulations?
Since SecureCRT is open source, how do you know they don't send your host information and keyfiles to the government?
I have previously used an older version (4 I think) and it was fantastic. Nicer options and interface compared to Putty. Pity SecureCRT is so expensive or I would own a license.
SecureCRT, unlike putty, can be made portable instantly by a simple batch file:
@echo off SET SCRT=.\SecureCRT.EXE SET CONF=.\config START %SCRT% /F %CONF%
Putty on the other hand is a nightmare to manage with huge amount of hosts.
