While Sublime text is "paid" (they mostly do not not enforce licenses), it's still the fastest, ready to go graphical editor I've found. Having the package manager available is great, but I was very happy with the native features including saving root owned files in linux without having to run it as sudo. Atom and vscode are great and use sublime as just one of the tools you need for your toolbelt.
