Comments about Clementine as an Alternative to MediaMonkey
Top Positive CommentIs the most complete audio player you can get on linux (at least at the moment), all other audio players aren't as complete as this one is or are based on it and are not as complete as clementine.
Top Negative CommentmichaelolsenWhile it is an excellent audio player, it is NOT a file/content manager. Also it is NOT video capable. Therefore it only provides less than 1/4 the functionality of MediaMonkey. The most powerful and meaningful functions of MediaMonkey are its content management capabilities.
Most Recent CommentOn my Mac (late 2013) Clementine does not easily rip CDs from an external drive. It loses Album Artist information. It does not read .aiff files. I don't know what else it can't do, because those functions are so basic I refuse to dig deeper.

Comments about Harmonoid as an Alternative to MediaMonkey
michaelolsenFinally a true library manager! Others simply parrot what you have but do not actually manage content Harmonoid does. It also has a quality integrated player. So it actually parallels MediaMonkey for audio files (I have not tried it on video yet). This is the first true alternative I have seen,

Comments about beets as an Alternative to MediaMonkey
michaelolsenBeets provides all the audio media management capabilities of MediaMonkey, but lacks an integrated player.
One 'drawback' for some is its design to be used from the command line. This can be overcome by opening it from your web browser which then provides an effective graphical interface.
Unlike MediaMonkey, there is no easy 'built-in' method of transferring files to other devices (e.g., your phone or tablet).
On a 10 point scale I would say this is a 6.5 as an alternative.
the MacOS version of foobar has not nearly the functionality it has on Windows, sadly.
