Lookeen Desktop Search

Its a very useful tool and helps me finding all my Data in a short time period. Also the Customer Support Team is really fast in responding! So I can definitely recommend this product.

Lookeen wants to clear my index and rebuild it even after I selected not to do this.

I have discussed this with Tech Support and they are VERY slow in responding. They keep promising a solution but have waited for weeks.

Would recommend looking for something else if you are running Windows10.

Lookeen Free, literally found 2 major bugs in a few minutes after indexing complete. I go to report them and their contact & support forms fail!
These are just bugs, I was already wondering about whoever came up with some of the UI decisions.
Don't look for attention to detail with this company...

Bug #1: Selecting and arranging the columns of the search results for FILES and the end result:

Column Name ==} What It Actually Contained

Type ==} Type

Date ==}  Date

File ==}  Folder name

Size ==}  Archive (C:\)

Archive ==}  File Name

Folder ==}  Size of file (4 KB)

File Extension ==}  Path

Path - File Extension

Adding then removing a column SEEMS to fix this seemingly easily reproducible problem

Bug #2: Put something in file extension field, perform search, 
file extension entry field disappears but search will fail as extension still selected (it's just not visible).  
It seems that this depends on column widths etc.

For whatever reason the search operation changed at least one column width enough so that it 
stopped displaying the entry field (but still keeps showing the column name even if that gets truncated).

When I tried to access the website on Firefox, my browser warned me the site is a security risk.

I compared Lookeen with X1 for Outlook searches. Lookeen really does trump X1 starting with the seamless outlook integration. It does have a fairly high learning curve however. I'd say 3 or 4 hours before you get the hang of it. Still the "Conversation" & "Topic" buttons don't do anything except throw completely random results at you or don't even work at all. The options button in the ribbon is not coded properly either as it opens but you would never know it because you can't see it. You have to click on your outlook icon to see it, so you might find it half hour later when you do that.

I also could not get Lookeen to display any of the pdfs in any module. I don't know if this has something to do with default viewers or what but it is really a disappointment. Still I liked it better than X1 which already seems outdated and equally as buggy for these not cheap programs which are supposed to work out of the box!

So that is 3 features out of a host of them that don't work. I can see I'll have to spend hours on support requests and wonder if they can patch it back together.

Best feature of Lookeen for me is 'Lookee Analytics'. Gives me more insight to my email communication in a clear an simple way. Fine search and find with this tool. Well done Lookeen developers.
