AskFolder

AskFolder searches a whole folder of PDFs, Word files, text, CSV, scanned documents and photos in plain words, and answers with the passage itself, its file and its page.

Everything runs inside your web browser, on your computer or phone: files are never uploaded, there is no account, and it keeps working offline once loaded. The page's own security policy forbids it from sending your files anywhere.

• Searches by meaning as well as exact words, so "how much notice to end the lease" also finds "either party may end this agreement by giving sixty days' written notice".
• Reads scanned PDFs and photos of documents with on-device text recognition, in 11 languages.
• Lists every date your files mention (warranties, renewals, bills, appointments) with the sentence it's in.
• Works on phones: choose files or photos, or take a photo of a document.

Free for folders of up to 50 files and 3 scans per folder. Pro removes the limits, keeps folders saved in the browser, and exports dates to your calendar with reminders. Pro is $9 a month, $79 a year, or $59 once.
