justinterestedTutanota is a great email provider with very good encryption (it uses end-to-end encryption like Signal – i.e. they cannot read your emails/gife them to the government, Gmail can!) and they don't sell any data. It is also very easy to use, it has a very nice app, a desktop client and a web client. There is really no reason why you wouldn't want to use it :)
8John FastmanTutanota is a good Gmail replacement for most of the same reasons Protonmail is: Your email is stored encrypted on Tutanota servers in a way that neither they nor any potential hackers can decipher it. This means your emails can't be scanned to profile you and sell your private information for profit, which is how Gmail makes its money. Tutanota also enables encrypted email communication which Gmail does not. It's user friendly and more features are on the way.
6Does not support POP/IMAP, you will not be able to use it with Thunderbird or another email client.

Comments about Proton Mail as an Alternative to Gmail
More secure reliable than gmail. Also beautiful UI it's open source,free...
Protonmail is free, open-source, encrypted (more private). Lacks: calendar & good contacts feature, but these are in the pipeline. Protonmail cannot by design data-mine your software for it's own profit; Gmail makes it's money by violating your privacy that way.
ProtonMail is absolutely amazing. It's open source, privacy focused. User friendly, privacy focused & much more.
It is free, open source, secure, very powerful, and has great related services
There are up to 15 custom email address' available on the premium plan...I think I have about 5 so far. Proton Mail can be integrated with desktop email clients like Thunderbird, Outlook, or Apple mail. Proton is based in Switzerland, so it is safe from the FIORC. The VPN is outstanding too!
