With FastStone, you can choose to capture the full screen, an active window, objects, a rectangular region or a freehand region. With this variety of options, you can capture your entire screen, just a small window or anything in between. The program can take a scrolling capture, creating a snapshot of the entire content of a webpage, even if part of it is hidden and requires scrolling to view. Once you’ve captured an image, the FastStone editor opens automatically. Here you have a basic array of tools that let you draw, highlight, magnify, annotate and combine screen captures.
One of my favorites application. Also run in Linux via Wine like a charm.
The feature that capture window while scrolling down works perfect. It was buggy a few years ago. And latest update really improve this function. It gets the job done. Nothing matters more when a tool can get the job done while others cannot. Great job team!
Pretty close to what we're looking for to create instruction video's and demo's, but we turned it down, because it didn't record popup texts. Had it working on an Asus laptop with Windows 8.1.

Bought ~10 years ago, still used daily. Still finding things it can do
No options for changing recording format. Why wmv when mp4 or other containers are available. Other features are good, but is it worth it.
I didn't realize I was liking it. The original freeware is all I need and it is no longer available. I'm not interested in playing with video.
