Protonmail is probably at the moment the best Countermail alternative, depending on your needs. PM is more user-friendly and Swiss law > Swedish for privacy. But PM uses browser-based javascript to let you into your account, has only mobile-based 2-factor authentication, no PGP key export/import and no calendar. (These last two things will soon be fixed.) PM has a larger development team and greater public exposure, so it will probably develop faster into a good long-term solution.
