Notion launches Developer Platform for AI agents with Workers and external agent support

Notion has introduced a new Developer Platform that expands its AI agent capabilities and positions the workspace as a central hub for collaboration, tools, and integrated data sources. The update adds an orchestration layer that lets Notion coordinate AI-driven work across tools, data sources, and processes, moving beyond its earlier scope as a note-taking or collaboration application.

A major part of the launch is Workers, a cloud-based environment where teams can write and deploy custom code in a secure sandbox. Workers can sync data into Notion, create custom tools, and trigger actions through webhooks without requiring external infrastructure. The platform also adds database sync, allowing Notion to pull and update data from systems like Salesforce, Zendesk, and Postgres through APIs. Notion says AI coding agents can help generate the required logic, and Workers will be free to use until August.

Notion is also adding an External Agent API so companies can connect their own internal AI agents, alongside launch support for partner agents like Claude Code, Cursor and Codex. Users can chat with these agents, assign tasks, and track progress directly inside Notion. Developers can access the new platform through the Notion CLI, available across all plans.
