Meta is shutting down its enterprise-oriented communications platform, Workplace
Meta has announced the discontinuation of its enterprise communications platform, Workplace from Meta, as it failed to compete with other bussiness focused rivals such as Slack and Microsoft Teams. Workplace will continue to be available for customers until August 31, 2025.
Starting in September, Meta will provide a 50% discount on Workplace services to support its users during the transition period. Workplace will switch to a read-only mode from September 1, 2025, allowing users to export their data until June 1, 2026. After this date, all access will be denied and data will be deleted.
The decision to shut down Workplace is attributed to the stiff competition from other platforms like Microsoft Teams, Google Workspace, Slack, Basecamp, or Workvivo, an alternative owned by Zoom, and with whom the company has partnered to facilitate the migration from Workplace.
