GitKraken acquires CodeSee and launches new developer experience platform named DevEx
GitKraken, a widely-used Git platform, has revealed its acquisition of CodeSee, a company specializing in workflow automation and code comprehension. GitKraken's CEO, Matt Johnston, described the acquisition as “a pivotal step in consolidating our innovative suite of tools into a cohesive Developer Experience (DevEx) platform”.
The merger brings together CodeSee's technology with GitKraken's robust tools, including GitLens and Git GUI, to form the GitKraken DevEx platform. This service aims to enhance workflow across various coding platforms such as GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket, Azure DevOps, Jira, and Trello, simplifying the development process and providing necessary support.
The GitKraken DevEx platform will incorporate CodeSee for code visualization and workflow automation, CodeSuggest for editing and commenting within projects, and Launchpad for real-time management of pull requests, issues, and work-in-progress. It will also include other GitKraken and AI-driven development tools, including support for Google Gemini.
The DevEx tools are engineered to operate as a single unit, from managing code commits and navigating PR reviews to streamlining entire development workflows. This integrated approach promises a seamless, consistent experience across different work environments.
Access to the GitKraken DevEx platform is diverse, covering desktops, IDEs with GitLens for Visual Studio Code (and soon, GitLens for JetBrains), command-lines, and web browsers via GitKraken's browser extension.
