Comment summary: GitKraken stands out for its visually appealing and powerful UI, appreciated for its intuitive design and solid features. It is praised for being user-friendly and supports Git features like graphical interactive rebase, yet receives criticism for high RAM and CPU usage alongside slower performance compared to command-line options. Users express dissatisfaction with its license policy changes, particularly the inability to manage private repositories in the free version, necessitating a login even for local repos.

Hands down the best Git client out there right now. Unfortunately they recently removed the ability to access private repos as a free user, but if you don't need that or are willing to pay this is the best for sure. Gorgeous/responsive UI, super simple setup and connections with repo services, and the only Git feature that I'm aware is missing is subtrees, but submodules are supported.

There's no way to use it without sign in, not even open a local git repo.

It is simply the best way to see all the versions of your code coming and going. The git diff tools provided by GitKraken saves you to commit a lot of mistakes. The UI is just amazing and makes your life much easier. The performance is fantastic.
