Apps I Use on GrapheneOS

If you are using GrapheneOS on your main phone, then you have made the first and most important step towards privacy in your daily life (in my opinion of course). Most people use their phones more than any other device, and have their phones on them almost all the time, so ensuring that your phone is as private as you can reasonably and comfortably make it is a great move. Switching the operating system is only the first step however. If you move from an iPhone full of big tech apps to GrapheneOS and then install all those apps again, what is the point? Sure, you will have a more private and secure system, but you would subject yourself to being tracked every time you open an app. So, we need to find alternatives to these apps, that are open source, don't track us, keep everything possible local, and don't have an ulterior agenda beyond being the tool you are looking for.

I have tried MANY local music players, and this is by far the best one that I have used. Handles my 100GB+ FLAC library with no hiccups, downloads lyrics and album covers from the internet when necessary.

YouTube front-end. I used to use Tubular, a fork of NewPipe, because it added SponsorBlock, but it would take much longer to adopt updates that get around YouTube's blocking, so I begrudgingly switched back.

I hope you found some use out of this list! I noticed that a lot of people hear, "Switch to GrapheneOS! Switch to GrapheneOS! It will improve your privacy!" and they do so, but then they are lost when it comes to what apps to use. For a beginner, it can be difficult to discover alternatives to big-tech apps that they have become accustomed to. If you have any suggestions, be sure to leave a comment and I will try them out. I only included apps that I personally use to avoid this list becoming me just listing every app out there.

No comments so far, maybe you want to be first?
